Inveniam Group is made up of a diverse and multidisciplinary team that works together to bring breakthrough technologies to the market. Every month we will highlight one of our team members to get to know them and show who we are. For our sixth instalment we present, Laia Mencia.
What interested you about working with Inveniam Group?
After working hard and getting my Ph.D. in Astronomy at Sweden University, I decided a break was in order. Fast forward some years where I worked on other things, and I felt stuck; it was time for a change. I wanted to get back to a challenging, exciting job, a job that made me think and test myself. This job lets me find out parts of the world that I didn’t know existed, and it allows me to work with projects that are trying to make a positive change in the world. That’s when I discovered Inveniam. A friend told me about them, and I decided to take a chance and ask for an interview.
What do you do here at Inveniam Group?
I am an Associate in Inveniam’s Public Funding department. I mainly work on European funding, though I also work with National Funding. From single companies to consortiums, we help them with the storytelling of their technology, their roadmap to get to the market, business analysis, and much more.
What are your fields of interest?
I’m interested in science and its impact on shaping the world, bettering the world, and addressing all the significant social and environmental challenges that are coming our way. Because in science, we will find the answers to all these issues. Being involved in all kinds of projects cements this idea; science is critical.
What do you like to do in your spare time?

There are always so many things too! From reading a good book with a cup of tea or baking or mushroom picking or ‘for un pica-pica’ with friends at weekends to visiting family and friends spread around the world while on holidays. I keep telling them to move, so I have an excuse to visit exotic places!
